Shivanubhavam by Ramana Charana Theerthar Brahmasree Nochur Venkataraman at Chidambaram Temple , From 3rd September to 10th September

Beloved devotees Chidambaram is a temple dedicated to Lord Shiva located in the heart of the temple town of Chidambaram .

It enjoys utmost importance in the tradition of Shaivism , also referred to as Bhuloka Kailasam

About Chidambaram

Lord shiva as Ananda Nataraja Murthy with his divine consort performs cosmic dance of utmost eternal bliss known as Ananda Thandavam, symbolizing the Panchakriyas namely Srishti, Sthithi, Samharam, Thirodhanam  and  Anugraham. This cosmic dance is also known as Pancha Krithya Paramananda Thandavam .

As per the legend there was a competition held between Lord Shiva and Goddess Kali at Chidambaram with Lord Vishnu as the judge . While dancing with immense beauty , dexterity and swiftness Lord’s earring got detached and fell on the ground .Lord picked up the ring with one foot and fixed it at its original position. As Kali could not imitate this posture she withdrew from the competition and left angrily to the town border and stayed there .Goddess here is known as Thillai Kali. Lord Vishnu stayed here as Govinda Raja to watch the cosmic dance of Nataraja. On hearing the cosmic dance Adi Shesha descended to Earth as sage Patanjali and reached Thillai (Chidambaram) to perform penance.

Sage Vyaghra Pada , an ardent devotee of Lord Shiva performed penance to obtain tiger claws so that he can climb trees easily to procure Vilva leaves for Lord’s prayers.Lord Nataraja appeared before him and performed the cosmic dance on the “Thai Poosam” day .At their behest Lord stayed here in Thillai for the benefit of all beings.

Shiva Sameeksha Samithi heartily and happily welcomes all the devotees to this holy ancient and historical shrine for  a week long divine Satsang to be held in the temple premises at the historical Rajasabha on the topic Shivanubhavan from 3rd September to 10th September 2018
